Infectious disease doc

Saw her yesterday for the (hopefully) last time. She said she's pretty sure the bacteria is gone. She said we hit it really hard with the antibiotics. She wants PS to get a tissue sample during surgery so they can make sure nothing grows. She said its common in tap water so I'm not showering after surgery the next time! I asked about getting something like neulasta to build up my WBC but she said I have enough WBC's to fight infection even though the count is low. They will show up to fight when needed.

One disturbing side effect from the antibiotic: my teeth (already stained by childhood doses of tetracycline) have some staining in between the teeth. Very annoying! I need to fit a dental cleaning into the budget.

Port flush

I'm waiting in the chemo room to have my port flushed. I'm trying hard not to cry because it makes me so sad seeing people having chemo. All ages. Some seem worse than others. Some are alone here. I want to hug them all.
