Why I can't

With the pain in my ribs I had to decline a job today. When I have to cancel or say I can't do something I feel like I have to explain. People don't understand or they don't care. That causes me to feel like I make people angry. That causes me to be angry or to feel that people judge me.

--my ribs currently hurt when I have to shift or turn the steering wheel of my car

--I get hot flashes so bad that sometimes I feel I could pass out

--humidity makes hot flashes worse & sweat drips down my face

--with the arm sleeves I'm wearing long sleeves year round...again hot

--I get tired & need time to recover after activities 

--I can handle pain. The rib issue freaked me out because when breast cancer spreads it can go to the ribs or spine.

--radiation probably weakened my ribs

So, when I can't do something I need people to understand. I know it's difficult.

Well, my primary care doc thinks my rib pain is from a pulled muscle. She said a broken rib would "crunch" as she touched it. So I'm to take ibuprofen & use moist heat on it. If it's not better next week then she'll send me for X-rays.

Rib pain freak out

I've had progressively worse rib pain for the last couple of days. It's not in the normal area. The left side at the bottom of my rib cage is always a bit painful. That's a reminder of radiation. Scans have shown that I had a fracture on my right side at some point. The new pain is on the right side. I did fall over the weekend while going thru a door. I was trying to help an elderly dog get thru the door and our feet tangled. I didn't land hard or even on my side. I think Faslodex can weaken bones plus the radiation. My last scans were ok but any new pain causes panic. Not sure if I should go in or wait it out. Of course, I was just reading about rib pain on the internet & was getting worried.

Now I've heard of castor oil but never actually seen it. Apparently it's the carrier for the medication in the Faslodex. So, I have never seen castor oil but I have certainly felt it being pushed into my muscle. My nurse is very sweet but I suspect she administers the drug too fast. I read it should take 1-2 minutes. She says it hurts her hand to push the syringe. Luckily today (or rather yesterday) we had to go into the bathroom where there are rails for me to grip onto as I try to relax the muscle. The chemo infusion area was so full there wasn't a room available. I wonder if people wonder what kind of treatment I'm getting when I go into the bathroom with the nurse.

Every month I come out of the cancer center all pissed off wanting to punch something or someone. Faslodex will do that to a person. The needle poke is one thing. Pain, ok fine. But the injection 250 mls of castor oil thickness makes me want to punch. And that's 250 in each side, hip above butt.
